Brittany Williams

BS, IBCLC

Hello! My name is Brittany and my passion of wanting to help people started when I first attended college to initially become a therapist. I graduated from KSU with Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Shortly after finishing college, my husband and I expanded our family when we welcomed our first son into this world. With no support except for my husband and an intense personal goal to prove to myself that I could successfully breastfeed, I breastfed my son for over 2 years. After I became pregnant with my second child, and she was born I felt more confident in myself with breastfeeding. However, new challenges arose that I didn’t experience with my son. I sought out lactation care that was then more readily available. I successfully breastfed my daughter for over 2 years as well. The struggles I went through while breastfeeding my first two children and the help I received from lactation consultants during that time had only increased my desire to help and educate other mothers with breastfeeding. This inspired me to pursue becoming a lactation consultant myself.

After completing my program, graduating with honors, I sat for the IBCLE and received my certification of International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. I received the news that I passed my exam a week after I gave birth to our third child, another son. Despite being well educated and experienced in breastfeeding, I still sought out support from lactation consultants. You are never too far in your journey to seek help. From the pains of a bad latch to successfully weaning after extended breastfeeding, I have personally been through a lot of ups and downs as a mother of 3. These challenges and successes have helped me gain more personal knowledge of the challenges mothers can face when breastfeeding. I believe that there is never truly enough support for mothers out there.

I have worked with mothers of all backgrounds and situations that have only enhanced my knowledge in lactation care outside of personal experience. Although I did not continue my education to officially become a therapist, I do believe that my education received for my psychology degree has immensely helped me to be more fully immersed and understanding in the emotional aspect of breastfeeding. It is my hope that I can bring my knowledge, experiences, and support to all the families that I encounter. It is my passion to assist families in reaching short- or long-term breastfeeding goals with my support as an IBCLC. I strive to create a reliable and supportive source of care for others and it has only grown as time passes as I seek education on evolving lactation care. I look forward to meeting you!
